By attaining the title of MSc in Applied Accounting and Auditing, I fulfill educational requirements for the practice of the certified auditor-accountant profession, while concurrently participating in professional examinations to obtain the title of Certified Auditor-Accountant. At the same time, I fulfill the educational prerequisites for practicing as a certified auditor-accountant, concurrently engaging in professional examinations to attain the title of Certified Auditor-Accountant.

The program is designed for:

  • Graduates primarily from department of economics, business administration, accounting, or mathematics.
  • Holders of a tertiary education degree aiming to pursue a career as certified auditors-accountants or aspiring to take on leadership positions in the financial departments of businesses or organizations. Individuals with a passion and dedication to the subject matter are particularly welcome.

The program spans 4 semesters of full-time study.

The tuition fees amount to 7.400 euros, payable in equal installments at the beginning of each semester.

Classes are held at Euripidou 14, at the facilities of the Department of Economic Sciences, and Kapodistriou 28, at the facilities of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants (SOEL).

  • Classes take place in the afternoons, after 5:00 p.m., almost daily, and some Saturday mornings.
  • The primary responsibility for teaching lies with the faculty members of the Department of Economic Sciences of NKUA.
  • Accounting and Auditing courses are mainly taught by members of Inst, who are specialized experts and experienced professionals in these specific subjects.
  • Additionally, instruction is provided by specialized experts with extensive professional and teaching experience.

1st Semester

The compulsory courses for the 1st semester are:

  1. Statistics and Quantitative Methods
  2. Financial Mathematics
  3. General Accounting and Corporate Accounting
  4. Accounting Standardization.

2nd Semester

The compulsory courses for the 2nd semester are:

  1. Microeconomic Analysis
  2. Financial Management of Businesses and Markets
  3. Auditing
  4. Tax Legislation and Law I.

3rd Semester

The compulsory courses for the 3rd semester are:

  1. International Accounting Standards
  2. Tax Legislation and Law II
  3. Macroeconomic Analysis, International Economics
  4. Accounting Applications in Informatics.

4th Semester

The compulsory courses for the 4th semester are:

  1. Special Topics in Accounting
  2. International Audit Standards
  3. Public Sector Accounting and Auditing
  4. Organization and Business Strategy.

Each course corresponds to 7,5 ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) credits.

The structure and content of the “Applied Accounting and Auditing” specialization have been adjusted to Law 3693/2008 on the “Harmonization of Greek legislation with Directive 2006/43/EC on statutory audits of annual and consolidated accounts, amending Council Directives 78/660/EEC and 83/349/EEC, and repealing Directive 84/253/EEC and other provisions,” as well as Presidential Decree 226/1992 on the “Establishment and operation of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the conditions for registration in the Special Register and the exercise of the profession of Certified Public Accountant,” as currently applicable.

The Department of Statistics and Financial Mathematics of the University of the Aegean collaborates administratively with the Department of Economic Sciences of the University of Athens (EKPA), which holds administrative responsibility and primary teaching responsibility for the Postgraduate Program in Applied Economics and Financial Management.

Collaborations with professional bodies:

Hellenic Institute of Certified Public Accountants (SOEL), established in 2005. The collaboration focuses on assigning teaching positions related to auditing and accounting to experienced, specialized scientists proposed by the Supervisory Board of SOEL. Additionally, graduates of the MSc Program in “Applied Accounting and Auditing” gain educational adequacy in subjects required for the exercise of the auditing profession, provided they successfully participate in the corresponding professional examinations.

Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (ICAEW). Collaboration involves educational seminars and the recognition of knowledge subjects. Specifically, 12 out of the 15 knowledge subjects required for the internationally recognized professional title of Association of Chartered Accountants (ACA) are acknowledged.

Graduates find opportunities in auditing firms, accounting offices, the financial sector of businesses, and the financial departments of private or public sector organizations.
